Duck House

I was approached about making a floating island duck house to go in a large lake. The client gave me a picture of what she wanted and said that she wanted it bigger so that it fitted in with the sizing of the lake – too small and it would look lost.

This Duck House was hexagonal in shape and the photographed original was to house one family of ducks. Because the size was going to be substantially bigger, I made the duck house have three rooms inside, each with their own entrance. The duck house floats with concealed polystyrene underneath and ramps are on either side for ease of ascending. It also has a hidden anchor system. For ease of cleaning, the roof detaches.

A beautiful addition to an English garden that gets used all year round.
